Navy Pier Chicago Attractions for the Entire Family
Catch the free trolley right outside our door and go straight to Navy Pier, Chicago's most popular entertainment destination.
Part of architect Daniel Burnham's "Master Plan of Chicago," it opened in 1916 as a shipping and recreational pier. Today, it features 50 acres of parks, promenades, gardens, shops, eateries and attractions.
Navy Pier is the year-round home of Chicago Shakespeare Theater, an IMAX Theatre and the Chicago Children's Museum. As you walk from one end to the other, small boutiques and amusement rides, including a giant Ferris wheel, catch the eye.
Boat cruises depart from the Pier and some snake back downtown along the Chicago River, offering unique vantage points of the city's legendary architecture. During the summer months, fireworks are launched from the Pier every Wednesday and Saturday evening.
It's all a huge blast.
