Chicago's Michigan Avenue Shopping
At Hotel Palomar Chicago, we have a rather magnificent neighbor. We're talking about North Michigan Avenue, known as the "Magnificent Mile" or "the Mag Mile" to us locals.
This legendary shopping stretch bubbles over with luxury shops and retail flagships, ranging from Burberry to Escada to Ralph Lauren. This designer mecca is also home to shopping centers where you could easily pass an entire morning. Our favorites include the 900 Shops, anchored by Bloomingdale's; The Shops at North Bridge, housing Nordstrom; Chicago Place, where Saks Fifth Avenue resides; and Water Tower Place, home to Macy's and American Girl Place. Also on the Avenue is the Chicago Water Works Visitor Information Center, where you can embark on a trolley tour and pick up Chicago-centric souvenirs.
A few blocks west of North Michigan Avenue looms Merchandise Mart, the world's largest wholesale design center. Across the Chicago River, just south of the hotel, there are other shop-ortunities. BLOCK 37 is a multi-use residential, retail and entertainment development that houses favorites like Anthropologie, The Disney Store and Godiva Chocolate. If you're here over the holidays, see nearby Daley Plaza transformed into Christkindlmarket, a traditional German market blanketed with wood cabins, each housing a different artisan vendor.
We know you'll find a lot to get in the bag.
